About Panama City Airport
Tocumen International Airport is located 15 miles from Panama City and is the main air travel hub for the country. The airport is the busiest in Central America, and serves as the gateway to the region for millions of passengers each year. The facility was first opened in 1947, and the current passenger terminal was inaugurated in 1978. Due to the huge demand and heavy use of the airport, a modernization effort was undertaken in 2006, which made it one of the few in Central America able to service the largest class of commercial aircraft. Flights to and from all over the Americas are serviced daily, and several routes to Europe are offered.
